Questions? I’ve Got Answers!

Starting therapy is a big decision. It’s okay to have questions. The answers below are here to make that decision a little clearer. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, reach out directly. I’m happy to talk it through.

About Therapy

Is therapy right for me?

1

If you’ve been carrying something, anxiety, self-doubt, patterns you can’t seem to break, a transition you’re struggling to navigate, therapy can help. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many of the women I work with are high-functioning and outwardly successful; they come to therapy not because they’re falling apart, but because they’re ready to stop just managing and start actually healing.

What is therapy like with you?

2

Collaborative, honest, and warm. Before theory or interventions, my focus is building a strong and trusting relationship with you as your therapist. I’m not a blank-slate therapist who sits in silence while you figure it out alone, nor do I act as an expert on your life. I bring my authenticity to the space in order to make you feel safe enough to do the same. I ask questions that get underneath the surface, reflect back what you might not be able to see, and work with you as an active partner in the process. Sessions are structured but responsive; we follow your lead while keeping your goals in focus.

How do I know if we’re a good fit?

3

The best way to find out is through the free 20-minute consultation. It’s a real conversation, not a sales call. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and whether my approach feels right for you. There’s no pressure and no commitment. If we’re not the right fit, I’ll do my best to point you toward someone who is.

How long will I be in therapy?

4

That depends entirely on you, your goals, and what you’re working through. Some clients come for a focused period around a specific issue. Others find that therapy becomes an ongoing part of their wellness practice. We’ll check in regularly on your progress and adjust our work together based on what’s most useful to you.

5

Do you work with men or couples?

I primarily specialize in working with women for individual therapy. For couples therapy, I work with couples of all backgrounds, genders, and relationship structures. Both partners attend couples sessions together.

What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?

6

Therapy is a licensed clinical service that addresses mental health concerns, emotional patterns, trauma, and relationship dynamics. It is regulated, HIPAA-protected, and conducted by a licensed professional. Coaching is non-clinical and focuses on goal-setting, accountability, and forward momentum. At Healing Her Confidence, all services listed under therapy are clinical services delivered by a licensed therapist. If you’re unsure which is right for you, the consultation is a great place to explore that.

Logistics & Getting Started

How do I get started?

1

Request a free 20-minute consultation. We’ll connect, talk about what you’re looking for, and determine next steps together. If we decide to move forward, I’ll send your intake paperwork through SimplePractice and we’ll get your first session scheduled. Quick, easy, painless!

Where do sessions take place?

2

All sessions are fully virtual, conducted via SimplePractice — a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. You’ll receive a private link for each session. All you need is a quiet, private space and a stable internet connection.

3

What states do you serve?

I am currently licensed in Texas and see clients who are physically located in Texas at the time of their session. Colorado licensure is in progress…once complete, I will be accepting clients in Colorado as well.

How long are sessions?

4

Individual therapy sessions are offered in 90-minute formats. Couples therapy sessions are 90 minutes. Intensives are extended half-day or multi-day formats. Longer sessions are one of the features that sets this practice apart; you’ll never feel rushed or like you’re just getting started when the time runs out.

How often will we meet?

5

For traditional therapy, most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and establish a strong therapeutic foundation. Session frequency can shift over time based on your progress and what’s most useful. Intensives are scheduled separately as standalone or supplemental offerings.

Fees & Payments

Do you accept insurance?

1

No. Healing Her Confidence Counseling is a private pay practice. This is an intentional choice, that allows for longer sessions, more personalized care, and complete privacy without the need for a clinical diagnosis in your medical record. HSA and FSA cards are accepted via SimplePractice.

What are your fees?

2

Full pricing is available on the Investment page. Individual therapy sessions begin at $175 for 90 minutes. Couples therapy is $250 for 90 minutes. Intensives are priced separately with payment plans available.

3

Are payment plans available?

Payment plans (two-payment splits) are available for all intensive offerings. Traditional therapy sessions are paid at the time of service. A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking for intensives.

What is your cancellation policy?

4

Traditional sessions may be cancelled at no charge with at least 24 hours’ notice. Each client receives one complimentary last-minute cancellation per month. No Shows are charged the full session fee. Cancellations with less than 1 hour’s notice after that are charged the full session fee. Intensive cancellations have a separate policy outlined on the Client Rights & Policies page.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

5

Not at this time. As a newly launched practice, I'm not currently able to offer reduced-rate spots, but expanding access to care is something I'm genuinely committed to, and sliding scale availability is on the horizon as the practice grows.

If cost is a barrier right now, I'd encourage you to bring it up during the free consultation. I'm happy to talk through what options might make sense, including session frequency adjustments or the payment plan options available for intensives.

Do you offer Superbills?

6

Yes. Upon request, I provide superbills for clients who wish to seek reimbursement from their insurance company for out-of-network therapy services.

A superbill is a detailed receipt for your therapy services that contains all the information your insurance company needs to consider your claim and possibly reimburse you for part of your costs. Unlike a standard invoice, a superbill includes additional information that an insurance plan needs to determine coverage — such as ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes.

How it works:
You pay your session fee at the time of service. I then provide a superbill, which you submit directly to your insurance company. Your insurer will review it and, if approved, send you a reimbursement based on your plan's out-of-network benefits.

Please read the following before pursuing reimbursement:

  • Only clients with PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) or POS (Point of Service) insurance plans typically have the possibility of out-of-network coverage. Even then, reimbursement is not guaranteed.

  • Submitting a superbill requires a clinical diagnosis. If you do not meet criteria for a diagnosable condition or prefer not to have a diagnosis submitted to your insurance, pursuing reimbursement may not be the right fit for you.

  • Turnaround time varies, but many insurers take two to four weeks to process a superbill. If any information is missing, reimbursement may be delayed or denied.

  • Please note that as an LMFT Associate, eligibility to provide superbills may vary depending on your specific insurance plan. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm your out-of-network benefits and verify that services rendered by an associate-level clinician are eligible for reimbursement before beginning treatment.

I recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card before your first session to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits, your deductible, and the reimbursement submission process. Superbills are available through the SimplePractice Client Portal upon request.
